I'm Just Getting Started

I've decided to start a blog. I don't know if anyone will be interested in what I might have to say, but it will be a way for me to express my thoughts about life, America, where we have come from, where we are headed and what the future might bring.

I'm calling my blog Thoughts of a Revolutionary Daughter because I descend from several patriots of the American Revolution. I am an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and I love genealogy and family history research. The DAR has three primary objectives: historic preservation, better education for children, and patriotic/community service.

I recently took a cluster of three classes at Bellevue University. It is called the Kirkpatrick Signature Series and focused on three areas: American Vision & Values; Tradition and Change; and Freedom and Responsibility. There was a lot of reading, critical thinking and writing required for this class and it reminded me how much I enjoy writing. So, I think I'm going to start blogging about topics related to America and how we got started and developed as a country.

I'll probably get off topic from time to time because there are so many things that interest me, so don't be surprised when it happens. The plan is to post at least weekly and more often if I have time or the mood strikes me. Feel free to post comments. I hope this Revolutionary Daughter's thoughts will provoke some thought and discussion.
